They are being awfully quiet about who Chief Bei Fong's father is. I wonder if it could in fact be Sokka?

Yes I know it's kind of crazy. Hear me out.

The comic is apparently supposed to 'fill in' the years between the Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: the Legend of Korra. From the comic, apparently Suki is now part of Zuko's bodyguards, along with Ty Lee. Though Mai and Zuko haven't officially tied the knot yet, they are very much still together. In contrast, Sokka and Suki seem to be physically in two different locations. I really thought they would be engaged or something by now.

The first comic also seems to set up Sokka and Toph to have an adventure together regarding her new metal bending school.

They may be keeping Toph's child's father secret because, well, they can. Or maybe because it's explosive?

I'm not sure how I feel about it either. Toph clearly had a crush on him, and they would be cute. On the other hand, Sokka/Suki was probably my favorite canon ship.

Ah well, guess we'll find out soon enough.
